STENO formiert sich um den Nukleus der atmosphärischen Gemäuer des Großen Wasserspeichers im Prenzlauer Berg.

Mit unserer Ausstellung wollen wir uns dem Ort hingeben und die Grenzen von Raumwahrnehmung austesten. Ausgehend von Materialien, die ihre Tiefe im Sein vergangener, übersehener und erschlossener Welten finden. Wir nverbinden uns als Künstler*innen in dem akustisch und geschichtlich aufgeladenen Raum als Gruppenausstellung unterschiedlicher Medien auf performative und fluide Weise.

Unser Bestreben ist es, die Spannung der Räumlichkeiten auszuhalten, die für Gegenstände und Menschen nicht erbaut wurde.

Körperlichkeit hinzuzufügen – dort wo einst Wasser und Schrecken durch ein Labyrinth von massiven Backsteinwänden zirkulierte. Mit Installationen aus Klängen, Bewegtbildern sowie Materialien, die sich entdecken lassen müssen, um definierbar zu werden.

Ausstellungen sind sowohl Aktion als auch Präsentation nicht-kommerzieller Kunst im (noch) öffentlichen sozialen Raum Berlins. Wir wollen diesem unwirklichen Raum die Möglichkeit bieten, sichtbar zu sein während der Art Week 2025, und greifen das Sichtbarmachen einer aussterbenden und sich bewusst weiterführenden Geschichte auf und betten uns in das Gefüge einer sich langsam selbst vergessenden Kunstszene im Spiel der Gemeinschaft ein.

Das Wort Stenografie trägt im Kern ein Chiffrieren, Orientieren, Verschlüsseln. Ein Lesesystem, welches sich nur Eingeweihten offenbart und gleichzeitig an eine andere Qualität der Zeitigkeit erinnert. Mit Performances, temporären Sound-Installationen sowie Gesang und instrumentaler Musik interagieren wir auf verschiedenen Ebenen um das Geheimnis das dem Kopfwort STENO zu Grunde liegt.

Zusammengefasst wird all das in einer Raumerfahrung, welche sich mit ihrem eigenen Schall unterhält und gleich ihrer Architektur zirkuliert.

STENO forms around the nucleus of the atmospheric masonry of Großer Wasserspeicher (the big water reservoir) in Prenzlauer Berg.

With our exhibition, we want to devote ourselves to the place and test the boundaries of spatial perception. Starting from materials that find their depth in the being of past, overlooked, and explored worlds. We connect as artists in the acoustically and historically charged space as a group exhibition of different media in a performative and fluid way.

Our intention is to endure the tension of the spaces that were not built for objects or people.

To add physicality – where once water and dread circulated through a labyrinth of massive brick walls. With installations of sounds, moving images, and materials that must be discovered in order to becomedefinable.

Exhibitions are both action and presentation of non-commercial art in the (still) public social space of Berlin. We want to offer this unreal space the possibility to be visible during Art Week 2025, and take up the act of making visible a vanishing and consciously continuing history, embedding ourselves into the fabric of an art scene slowly forgetting itself in the play of community.

The word stenography carries at its core an encoding, orienting, encrypting. A reading system which reveals itself only to the initiated and at the same time recalls another quality of temporality. With nperformances, temporary sound installations as well as singing and instrumental music, we interact on different levels around the secret that lies at the base of the apocope STENO.

All of this is summarized in a spatial experience which converses with its own sound and circulates like its architecture.
